High West is a hill located nearest to the Victoria Peak, despite not as high as the Victoria Peak. The panoramic view offered is a superb, from the western and southern sides of the island, as well as Kowloon to parts of the New Territories to the north. It is a highly recommended spot for physically-fit visitors since it is demanding to walk up a staircase continuously and with large steps.

I started from the University of Hong Kong today, walked through exit A (both A1 and A2 will do). Then, followed the University Street and passed Haking Wong Building, and Hui Oi Chow Science Building. After that, I reached an open area where are wooden picnic tables and benches. Walked along the slope behind them, up the stairs next to Graduate House, and crossed University Drive.

Eventually, walked up Kotewall Road, passing both Kotewall Road Public Toilet and Kotewall Road Sitting-Out Area, then to Hatton Road towards Lung Fu Shan Country Park. I turned left at Pavilion 4, to Pil Shan Path, and Lung Fu Shan Fitness Trail , then Hatton Road, until the junction of both Harlech Road and Hatton Road where Hatton Road Public Toilet was.

To reach High West, I walked striaght passed the water fountain straight from my site, then followed the sandy roads and large rocks up to the summit of 494m high. I stayed there for an hour and chatted with my new hiking friend who was currently on a two-week long holiday due to some arguments with his boss. We chatted for a while then we left through trail at the East of the summit, back to the junction of Harlech Road, Hatton Road and Lugard Road. We then walked along Lugard Road to the Peak Tower.
