Suicide Cliff is located at the top of the Sunset Ridge on the Kowloon Peak, the highest peak in the Kowloon Peninsula. It has an altitude of around 500m above sea level, 102m below the summit of the Kowloon Peak, where most of the view of the Kowloon Peninsula can be offered spectacularly. The Sunset ridge is a dangerous and stony route taken to reach the Suicide Cliff, it is short but intense.

We took Kowloon Bus 91 and set off at Good Hope School, then we crossed the road from New Clear Water Bay Road to Clear Water Bay Road. We immediately walked up some stairs and began our journey along the Sunset Ridge. It was all uphill moist and muddy road in the beginning, steps were irregular, some were big, some were small. And since this was not a route where most visitors would take, it was not well-paved and branches were uncut, they would come straight to your face if you did not watch your way!

After 20-25 minutes of walking, we came to a platform where we would be able to drink water and fuel ourselves with sufficient energy to tackle the following climb that began after 5 minutes walk from the platform. Although the rock-climbing part was intense as it was a steep, hence no returning, cliff; the rocks were not as huge, which made climbing feasible. Besides, there were ropes along the way, therefore, for those who had strong arm strength, they could simply pull themselves up.

*However, pulling oneself up for the whole journey is never recommended because the ropes are tied on the branches of trees and they may have been there for so long that would have already been worn off, hence are not that reliable. It would be best if one holds the ropes while climbing rocks, so even if the rock is slippery, the rope may be able to help as to assist. Through this, the rate of wearing off the ropes can be prolonged.

Once we climbed up to the Suicide Cliff, we went there and took some photos, lied on the rock and got a long rest before heading to the summit of the Kowloon Peak nearby the transmitting station. Eventually we got back down to Fei Ngor Shan Road along the long staircase in front of the helicopter landing pad. Since it was still early in the afternoon, we walked back to Choi Hung MTR Station, where we dismissed, along Clear Water Bay Road.
